The more fans there are, the more people that can be reached.

The shelter's intake staff routinely compares flyers brought in by the public with the animals that are brought in on a daily basis. Please put up flyers and make sure to get one to the Companion Animal Alliance Shelter as soon as your pet is missing. (Hint: If you do not have a photo of your pet, you can scroll through images online to find one similar to yours).

Below are their tips for what to do if you have lost or found a pet. 


Tips if you have LOST your pet:

1) visit the Baton Rouge animal shelter by the airport REGULARLY at 2680 Progress Rd., Baton Rouge, LA 70807

2) search craigslist pets Lost & Found http://batonrouge.craigslist.org/pet/

3) create a LOST ad on craigslist Lost & Found


4) visit vets around where your pet was last seen

5) if your pet is microchipped, visit www.homeagain.com and they can send out alerts to local vets, etc. there is a membership fee and your microchip does not have to be registered with them.

6) post flyers & pictures on facebook

7) use websites such as www.fidofinder.com, www.foundandlostpets.com, etc to search for ads of found pets

8) when you find your pet (hopefully), microchip him/her at your vet office. it's fairly inexpensive (around $30). you will also have to register the chip online for a one-time fee (inexpensive as well). If you have an outdoor cat, please consider "ear notching" it.
